Apples to Oranges

By Marie Tschopp

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward”. (Psalm 127:3 ESV)

They say an apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.  Mine landed in a different orchard.

She has gray eyes.  Mine are brown.

She likes hip-hip.  I like soft rock.

Her favorite female author is Jane Austin.  Mine is Erma Bombeck.

She is a messy.  I’m a neatie.

She’s a night owl.  I’m an early bird.

She likes to study with the radio on.   I like it quiet.

She has her grandmother’s hourglass figure.  I have her grandpa’s—from the waist up.

She graduated from an Ivy League school.  I graduated from community college.

She presented her Masters’ thesis at Trinity College in Dublin.  I present at Christmas and birthdays.

She runs half-marathons.  I run errands.

She has her dad’s disposition.  I don’t, but I adore her dad.

And I adore her, too.

    1. Your analogy between apples and oranges is excellent. I like it. It reminds me that the world is made up of all kinds of people.
